JARLE ANDHØY

The last viking. Sailed alone from Norway around Cape Horn, and to Antarctica with a greenhorn crew onboard a 27 feet sailboat. He worked as a seaman and rescuediver in the Norwegian Sea and Arctic ocean in Norwegian Coastguard and later sailed through worlds most extreme waters in the Arctic, Antarctica and through the Northwest Passage.

Jarle is not the average sailor. On most of his expeditions he has collected a crew of salty dogs and sailed the world. Life was a adventure and as a film of the modern day “pirate of the Arctic oceans”.  Jarle is the modern day Antarctic sailor with most sea and salty miles under the keel in worlds remote seas – roaring fourties, furious fifties and screaming sixties.

The 22.2.2011 the adventure life turned into a nightmare for Jarle when the emergency beacon onboard the Berserk was activated and Captain Tom Gisle Bellika, Robert Skaanes and Leonard James Banks disappeared in the Mc Murdo Sound, just 7 nautical miles from the Anchorage in Horseshoe Bay and shackeltons hut in the Ross Sea.

New Zealand and Norwegian governments have tried to ban Jarle Andhoy from sailing in the Southern Ocean, but he continues a life under sail in the spirit of free sailing and Born Free. He is the last the Norwegian viking with most milage and years at sea in the Arctic and Antarctic oceans.
